In the past, it was free to post your accommodation listings in our Slack #accommodation_offers channel. However, as of February 28 2024, this policy has changed. Let’s explore the reasons behind this shift and how the new system works.

Why the Change?

1. Moderation Challenges: The Accommodation channel requires significant moderating efforts from our single moderator. As our community grows, ensuring quality and relevance becomes more challenging.
2. Sustainability: Our single founder and moderator has been tirelessly building our community for years, without financial compensation. To secure the future of our community, we need to find a sustainable model that allows us to continue providing this valuable service.

How Does It Work Now?

1. Locked Channel: The #accommodation_offers channel is now locked, meaning you can only post there after making a payment via this link (or sign up as a Vendor for unlimited access)
2. Transaction ID: After making the payment, send a message with the email address used for the payment to nelleke@liveitup-laspalmas or (preferred) via a direct message to the Founder in Slack. This step grants you posting permission in the Accommodation channel.
3. Posting Guidelines:

• Your accommodation posts must include essential details:
  • Price; per day/week/month/etc. If you offer discounts for long-term rentals, include those too.
  • Pictures (of the INSIDE of the accommodation; potential renters need to be able to see what to expect). The more pictures, the higher your success rate is.
  • Availability dates. It’s also encouraged so share as much information as possible about your accommodation. This will increase your success rate.
• Once you’ve shared your post, your posting permission will be withdrawn. Accommodation posts will be automatically removed after 30 days.

1. Repeat Process: If you want to share another accommodation listing, or share your same accommodation for different dates, you’ll need to go through the same process.
2. Vendors Option: For those only sharing accommodation from a commercial point of view, you have to sign up as a Vendor. Vendors receive posting permissions without additional fees and can post once a week for a monthly fixed amount. Accounts that are considered as Vendor Accounts from an Accommodation perspective are (but not limited to): co-livings, registered AirBnB’s and people who have been posting accommodation frequently in the past on Slack.

The only approved channel to share accommodation is #accommodation_offers. Posting accommodations in channels other than this designated channel will result in your post being deleted, and you will receive a warning. In the event of a repeated occurrence, you will be removed from the community. No refunds will be given in this case.

Remember, this change ensures the sustainability of our community while maintaining security and convenience for all members.
