Farm-to-Table Gran Canaria: 3 Spots for Fresh, Local Flavours
Forget the buffet trays and soggy paella. Gran Canaria’s food scene is doing something a lot more exciting these days. From mountain villages to Michelin kitchens, farm-to-table is taking over. Whether you’re here for the eco-credentials or just want something that tastes like it grew under the Canarian sun, these three spots deliver.
🥣 Arte-Gaia BioTasca: Cozy, Conscious and Completely Charming
High up in Artenara, Arte-Gaia BioTasca is one of those rare places that feels like a hug and a meal rolled into one. Lidia and Laura run the place like it’s their own living room, and the food? Think chickpea stew, lentils with love, and creamy veggie soups that taste like they came straight from the garden.
The menu leans vegan and vegetarian without making a fuss about it. Even the coffee gets the plant-based treatment, with non-dairy milks always available.
Where: Plaza San Matías 2, Artenara
Price: €€ (affordable and worth every cent)
Pro tip: go for lunch and catch the light changing over the mountains.

🌿 Muxgo by Borja Marrero: Haute Cuisine with Homegrown Heart
Right in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Muxgo brings farm-to-table to fine dining. Chef Borja Marrero grows his own ingredients on a farm in Tejeda and brings them straight to your plate. You might get millet, pine bark, or flowers you’ve never seen before, and somehow it all makes perfect sense.

This place has a Michelin Green Star and a zero-waste kitchen. Every trim, peel and stem is used with purpose, whether in broths, ferments or compost that feeds the next harvest.
Where: Calle León y Castillo 227, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Price: €€€€ (a splurge but worth it)
Closed: 5 May to 31 July
Book ahead and ask for a seat with a view of the open kitchen.

🌊 Bevir by Lopesan: A Taste of Sea and Soil
Set in Meloneras, Bevir by Lopesan is reopening soon with even more island flavour. Chef José Luis Espino designs two tasting menus, Fortunata and Jacinta, based on local fish, seasonal produce from Finca de Veneguera and Gran Canaria’s agricultural traditions.

It’s fine dining, but grounded in sustainability and local pride. The views aren’t bad either.
Where: Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort & Spa, Meloneras
Price: €€€€ (fine dining with a conscience)
Reopens: 11 June 2025

Ideal for special occasions or slow evenings when you want to be spoiled.

Farm-to-table in Gran Canaria isn’t just a trend. It’s a celebration of where food comes from and who grows it. Whether you’re up in Artenara with a bowl of stew or at a Michelin-starred table in the city, these places serve more than meals. They serve stories, seasons and a true taste of the island.
