Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a very walkable city, but sometimes a bicycle is just more convenient. Most digital nomads don’t travel with their own bicycle and buying one is usually not worth it. So it’s good to know that the city has a solution for this! You probably have seen the yellow bicycles on the street.
Renting a bike with Sitycleta is easy:
- Register via their website or directly via the app in the Google Playstore or Apple App Store (you’ll need this app to rent a bike)
- Check your nearest station and bike availability
- Take a bicycle, scan the QR code with the app OR type in the code from the bicycle
- You’ll receive a 4 digit code in the app
- Enter this 4 digit code in the bicycle lock
- And go!
If you use the rental bike for less than 30 minutes, it’s free of charge*. Returning the bike is simple:
- Check your nearest station to see if there’s a free spot for your bike
- Press OK on the BikeComputer and close the fork lock.
- Wait for the confirmation and you’re ready!
This bike rental systems works on a subscription base:

Have you seen the green bikes? These electrical bikes are also part of Sityleta. Read more about the electrical shared bikes.
One more thing: riding a bicycle is NOT allowed on Paseo de Las Canteras (the boulevard next to the beach). You’re only allowed on the paseo with a bicycle between 10PM and 8AM. After all, the paseo is to pasear (to stroll, to take a walk)
