Stroll along the scenic promenade and breathe in the refreshing sea breeze as you witness the comings and goings of colorful fishing boats.
Swimming? Lots of space and distance at the old pier, more protected in the Agaete Piscina Natural! Hiking? Plenty of options, e.g. southwest in Guayedra, southeast in Valle de Agaete
Food? Fresh seafood near the beach, the best breakfast at Hondo!
Puerto de Las Nieves – A Gateway to Serenity
The harbor of Puerto de Las Nieves serves as the gateway to nearby Tenerife, connecting travelers to the neighboring island through the iconic Fred Olsen ferry. But beyond its transportation role, the village exudes a sense of serenity and relaxation, making it a favorite retreat for both locals and visitors.
Indulge in fresh seafood delicacies at waterfront restaurants, or simply unwind with a book on the rocky beach. The view of the sparkling blue ocean and the majestic cliffs in the background creates a soothing ambiance that invites you to savor the peaceful moments.
La Rama – A Festive Tradition
As the summer sun sets, Puerto de Las Nieves comes alive with the lively celebration of La Rama, a festival held annually on the night of August 4th. This colorful tradition pays homage to the town’s patron saint, the Virgin of Las Nieves.
The festival begins with a joyous procession through the streets, where locals carry branches adorned with colorful ribbons, fruits, and flowers. As they move to the beat of traditional Canarian music, the procession reaches a crescendo of excitement and energy.
The festivities culminate with a mesmerizing fireworks display, illuminating the night sky with bursts of vibrant colors. Afterward, the entire community gathers for a grand communal feast, where locals and visitors alike bond over delicious Canarian cuisine and dance to the infectious rhythms of the islands.
Exploring Agaete’s Hidden Treasures
Beyond the charms of Puerto de Las Nieves, Agaete offers a plethora of hidden treasures waiting to be explored. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Natural Pools of Las Salinas, where the tranquil waters invite you to unwind and connect with the surrounding volcanic landscapes.

But I love their smiles, I love the valley of Agaete and having the sea and mountains nearby. I hardly ever get out of town! If you don’t speak Spanish you will probably have a hard time here, but interacting every day, you definitely going to learn. The port, Puerto de las Nieves, is surely different and WAY more touristic/international!
