Grass fed beef and organic poultry are two premium options for consumers looking for high-quality, sustainably raised meat.
Grass fed beef is known for its rich, flavorful taste and healthier nutritional profile. It is produced from cows that are raised on a diet of grass and other forages, rather than grains like corn and soy. This type of beef is often leaner and higher in beneficial fatty acids and antioxidants compared to conventionally raised beef.
Organic poultry is another great choice for those seeking a more sustainable and healthy meat option. These chickens and other poultry are raised according to strict standards set by the USDA’s National Organic Program. They are given organic feed, access to the outdoors, and are not given antibiotics or hormones. This results in a higher quality product that is both flavorful and good for you.
Both grass fed beef and organic poultry come at a premium price, but for many consumers, the health and environmental benefits are worth it. What is the best shop to get grass fed beef?
You can buy grass fed beef at the Mercado Central, but 1kg of grass fed sirloin from Galicia is almost €20.
In Carrefour they sell grass fed ground beef.
Look for Tierra Mia in Telde. Also some small organic shops in the island sell meat from El Hierro, the only island in Canary Island with animals living free like cows. They buy their meat from Carnicería El Pinar. Also there are two organic chicken producers in Gran Canaria, and they mostly sell their products in small organic shops.
They have good deals at El Corte Inglés and I also found local grass fed beef there.
Where can I buy organic meat and poultry?
Spar Natural and Zanahoria. Also in El Corte Inglés there is a section in the poultry for organic/free range chicken.
The meat from Tierra Mia is lovely and they will deliver, but it is super expensive!
