For the full remote workers experience in Gran Canaria, you won’t be working from a coworking: you work with your face in the sun, sipping from a hot cup of coffee on a nice terrace. Since digital nomads usually sit for quite some time on a terrace and not everyone spends a lot of money, some cafes don’t allow you to sit down with your laptop.
If you sit down to work for some hours, consume a bit more than just one cup of coffee. If we want these cafes to stay in business and embrace digital nomads/remote workers, we need to show them that we are willing to support them!
That said, here are some terraces in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria that are laptop friendly.
Bread & Coffee
This place has a nice beach view, and the food is generally alright, though some dishes like their fake Nutella and guacamole might not be as good as you’d hope. Still, the overall experience is pleasant because the service is friendly. It’s a bit pricey, but the amazing view and the good food make it worth it. People in the local community highly recommend this cozy restaurant/bakery at Playa de Las Canteras as a great spot to work from with your laptop, thanks to its handy location, reasonable prices, and spacious setting.
The Crunch Mozart
This place is just a short 400 meters north of the Go Fit Gym and is a hotspot for remote workers in Gran Canaria looking for a handy laptop-friendly spot. It’s a cozy café right on Canteras Beach that serves up some pretty basic food with prices won’t break the bank. It’s a great, affordable choice to park yourself with your laptop, though the service might not always be lightning fast. Just make sure to make your own wifi hotspot, since they don’t offer this.
The Crunch Mozart near the surf beach doesn’t have WiFi but they also didn’t mind me working from there.
Starbucks
The Starbucks at Las Canteras has a great spot by the beach with a nice view, and they serve various hot and cold drinks. The staff is friendly, and it’s generally a decent place. However, if you’re planning to work on your laptop, their Wi-Fi isn’t that reliable/fast. So, if you need a laptop-friendly workspace, it might not be the best choice. Despite that, it’s still popular among people who want to enjoy the beachy vibe and have a good selection of drinks.
Starbucks on Paseo de Las Canteras is quite popular for remote workers.
Gelateria Futura
Gelateria Futura is a decent place to work remotely with your laptop. They open at 10 AM, and it’s usually nice and quiet in the morning, making it a great spot to focus on your tasks. They have good Wi-Fi, so your online work will go smoothly. Just remember, they’re closed on Mondays, so plan your workdays accordingly.
And again, please, spend money at the cafes you work from. Make the locals love remote workers in Gran Canaria! Don’t keep a table occupied for four hours and just drink one coffee.
