Mandala Climb in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Mandala Climb is a climbing shop which also has a bouldering gym. It’s a nice gym, with routes updated often, and it has traversals also.
Mandala Climb is a favorite among many in the community. This climbing shop features a bouldering gym that, while relatively small, offers a great location and a variety of routes that are frequently updated. It’s perfect for those who enjoy both climbing and shopping for climbing gear. The gym includes traversals, making it ideal for a comprehensive climbing workout. Morning sessions typically don’t require a reservation, but it’s wise to check ahead for afternoons, as reservations used to be necessary.
Oceanus Climbing (Crossfit) in Telde
I’m climbing in Oceanus Climbing in Telde, it’s worth the trip.
For those willing to venture a bit further, Oceanus Climbing in Telde comes highly recommended. While it may not be as centrally located as other options, its quality makes it worth the trip. The facility offers a great atmosphere and a variety of climbing options that cater to different skill levels. Whether you’re looking to boulder or tackle more challenging climbs, Oceanus provides a well-rounded experience.
Climbing World/Indoorwall Gran Canaria in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
It felt that the routes had (in comparison to my other experience) a high necessity of finger strength. Overall a nice climbing hall and nice people over there.
Located in La Isleta, Climbing World (also known as Indoorwall Gran Canaria) is another top recommendation. This gym is larger than Mandala Climb and offers both bouldering and climbing walls, including three autobelays. It’s known for its friendly community and a range of routes that demand significant finger strength, making it a great spot for those looking to push their limits. Whether you’re bouldering or climbing with an autobelay, Climbing World caters to both beginners and advanced climbers.
Sala Tagorock Climbing in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
It’s small, but cool boulders and if you are not a total beginner, it’s a good training place. I am definitely going here again.
Close to Las Arenas, Sala Tagorock Climbing is a small, garage-like gym that offers some unique and cool boulders. It’s especially suited for those who are not total beginners and are looking for a good training spot. Despite its size, the gym’s atmosphere and challenging routes make it a favorite for many. Regulars appreciate the intimate setting and the quality of the boulders.
GrancAventura in Arucas
For those looking for a different kind of climbing experience, the Gran Canaria Adventure Park in Arucas is worth a visit. This park offers an array of climbing activities, including tree climbing and zip lines, providing a fun and adventurous outing for families and groups. While not exclusively a climbing gym, it offers a unique experience that combines climbing with other outdoor activities.
Beginner Tips for Climbing in Gran Canaria
For beginners wondering if they can just turn up at a climbing wall, the answer is generally yes, but it’s helpful to know the types of climbing available. Most gyms offer bouldering, which involves climbing up to 5 meters without ropes and is very beginner-friendly. Autobelay climbing is also accessible for beginners; you wear a harness and the autobelay device catches and lowers you safely. Lead climbing, however, requires more experience, a climbing partner, and your own rope, so it’s recommended to get some training before attempting this.
No matter your level of experience, Gran Canaria has a climbing gym that will suit your needs. From the intimate and challenging Sala Tagorock to the well-equipped Climbing World, there’s a spot for every climber. Happy climbing!
