26th of April: Open Day Art Studios in Alcaravaneras
Something fresh and creative unfolds in one of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria’s most vibrant neighborhoods. On a single, art-filled day, the Saturday 26th of April, Alcaravaneras will open its doors — and its studios — to the public. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a curious wanderer, or just someone looking for something inspiring to do, this event promises a unique glimpse into the city’s buzzing creative scene.
The Artsy Heart of Alcaravaneras
Known for its laid-back vibe and growing creative pulse, Alcaravaneras is quickly becoming the go-to spot for local makers and independent artists. And on this special day, 14 art spaces – more than 20 visual artists – are opening their doors to let you in.
From 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., studios throughout the neighborhood will welcome visitors to explore, connect, and get inspired. Expect intimate spaces filled with sketches, canvases, ceramics, and stories—all tucked behind the colorful facades of this barrio. And there’s more — a full program of creative happenings will unfold throughout the day: think action painting, live performances, dance, short film screenings, guided visits… and even a K-pop dance tournament.
A First Look at Espai
Adding to the excitement is the official presentation of Espai Art Studio, a newly launched creative space making its debut during Saturday’s Open Day. Founded by Patricia Herrero, a visual artist who has developed her work across photography, ceramics, and other mediums such as printmaking, jewelry, and painting.
Joining her for this special occasion are two more artists who will be opening up their worlds to the public in this neighborhood: Viktoria Nianiou and Andi Concha.
Viktoria explores themes of travel, inner discovery, and overcoming personal fears through painting, drawing, and ceramics.
Andi is a visual artist whose creative journey began in London. Her pieces stretch across print, animation, and painting, playing with the concepts of dynamic and static images.
