While exploring farmers’ markets near Las Palmas, it’s worth taking a look at the city’s own markets. The Mercado Central is located in the heart of Las Palmas and is a popular spot for fresh produce, meats, and fish. The Mercado de Vegueta is another local market that’s been in operation since the mid-19th century. It’s known for its fresh fruits and vegetables as well as its lively atmosphere. Finally, the Mercado del Puerto is a popular destination for foodies, featuring a range of restaurants and bars alongside a market selling fresh produce and seafood. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite or fresh ingredients for cooking, these markets are worth a visit while in Las Palmas.

Vecindario & Arucas

One recommendation is the Mercado Agrícola. This market takes place every Saturday, alternating between Vecindario and Arucas. It’s an excellent opportunity to support local farmers and get some fresh fruits and vegetables. You can find more information about this market on their Facebook page.

Telde

Another option to explore is the Mercado Municipal in Telde. It’s open every morning, but it’s always a good idea to double-check the opening times before heading out.

San Mateo

If you’re up for a bit of a drive, the San Mateo Sunday market is worth checking out. Located in the center of Gran Canaria, this market is known for its fresh produce and lively atmosphere. Similarly, the weekend market in Santa Brigida is another great option, although it can be a little overpriced.

In addition to these options, it’s also worth keeping an eye out for smaller markets and pop-up stands that may be selling fresh produce. Local farms may also sell their produce directly to customers, so it’s worth asking around to see if anyone has any recommendations.
