While surfing in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria can be an exhilarating experience, it is important to remember that the water temperature can be quite chilly, even during the summer months. Water temperatures in Las Palmas typically range from 19-20 degrees Celsius, which can be quite uncomfortable for surfers who are not properly prepared.
This is where a wetsuit comes in. A wetsuit is an essential piece of equipment for any surfer, as it helps to keep you warm and protected while you are out in the water. Wetsuits work by trapping a thin layer of water between your skin and the neoprene material of the suit. This water is then warmed by your body heat, creating an insulating layer that helps to keep you warm even in cold water.
If you are planning on surfing in Las Palmas, you will definitely want to invest in a good quality wetsuit. There are several options available for purchasing a wetsuit, including renting one or buying a secondhand wetsuit on Facebook Marketplace, Wallapop, or Milancios.
I saw a few surf boards for sale at Buen Surf, might be worth checking them out.
Renting or buying a wetsuit in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Renting a wetsuit can be a good option if you are only planning on surfing for a short period of time, or if you are not sure if you want to invest in a wetsuit just yet. Many surf shops in Las Palmas offer wetsuit rentals for a reasonable price, and you can usually choose from a range of different sizes and styles.
If you are planning on surfing in Las Palmas for an extended period of time, or if you are serious about surfing and want to invest in your own wetsuit, buying a secondhand wetsuit can be a great way to save some money. Facebook Marketplace, Wallapop, and Milancios are all great places to find secondhand wetsuits, and you can often find high-quality suits for a fraction of the cost of a new wetsuit.
Of course, if you prefer to buy a new wetsuit, there are several surf shops and sporting goods stores in Las Palmas where you can find a wide range of wetsuits to choose from. Decathlon, for example, is a popular store where you can find a variety of wetsuits at affordable prices.

Where can I buy a (second hand) wetsuit?
My experience with that was that buying a new wetsuit in Decathlon (in Telde) is cheaper than buying a second-hand from those sites, but you should check those as well ofcourse.
You can check Facebook Marketplace, Wallapop and Milanuncios. That’s where you can buy all sorts of second hand items online.
Buen Surf School has some second hand boards and wetsuits for sale . I’ve also seen surfing gear for sale at CashConverters here.
Decathlon in Telde got various categories of wetsuits with different price. You can find a shorty for 20€ for exemple.
Where can I rent a wetsuit?
Surf school called California Surf Center used to do a 1 month deal I think it was €70 or something, including all equipment, wetsuit, surf boards, skate boards, bodyboarding boards, etc.
Buen Surf School has a huge rack of boards including loads of beginner boards and they offer a monthly membership for €90 which allows you to rent a board (and wetsuit) every day if you like.
