Today in Ask LIU! we share the answers to the question; where can you buy fresh fish on Gran Canaria? You’d probably expect LOTS of fresh fish available on the island, but unfortunately that’s not the case. This is because Gran Canaria doesn’t have a big fishing fleet; there are some boats down in Arguineguin, but that’s about it! So most fish you’ll be eating or buying here, is not local fish.

Where can I buy fresh fish in Las Palmas?
You can find fresh fish at El Corte Inglés supermarket, or the bigger Spar and Mercadonas.
I think Mercado Central is the best option to buy fresh fish.
You should go to the market, that’s where they sell fresh fish and meat. There are several in the city: Mercado de Vegueta in Vegueta, Mercado Central and the Mercado del Puerto. They normally open early in the morning and stay open until around 2PM.
